Fishing at North Fork Buffalo Creek Reservoir, Texas
Buffalo Creek Reservoir is a 1,577-acre impoundment located on the North Fork of Buffalo Creek in the Red River Basin approximately 20 miles west of Wichita Falls. At full pool, it has a primarily rocky shoreline. The water can be turbid at times. NOTICE: Due to extremely low water level, the public boat ramp is not usable at this time. PREDOMINANT FISH SPECIES Largemouth bass Channel, flathead & blue catfish White crappie TIPS & TACTICS Catfishing is good year round for all the major species. Crappie fishing has been productive off the dam and the east side rocky points. Largemouth bass are good fishing shallow near flooded terrestrial trees and brush with a spinnerbait using a slow retrieve. FISHING COVER / STRUCTURE At the current reservoir elevation, the rock rip-rap of the dam is the primary habitat. Brush piles have been placed along the dam face. AQUATIC VEGETATION Small patches of pondweed can be found around the reservoir.
